The main purpose of the club is to create a friendly, comfortable environment where students can develop and expand on their love of the culinary arts. During club hours we will make delicious recipes, plan future recipes and create individual cookbooks

ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB

The Westlake Middle School Environmental Club's mission is to look at environmental issues inside the school and around the district.  We are involved in the Kensico clean up and recycling activities throughout the school.  We also focus on our natural areas and trails, looking at the native ecology and invasive species. We are looking to keep Westlake beautiful.

JAZZ BAND

Advisor: Mrs. Sica, esica@mtplcsd.org

Meeting Dates: Wednesdays, 2:30 pm-3:15 pm

Students who enjoy jazz and play the sax, trumpet, trombone, baritone, guitar or drum set are invited to audition for the jazz band! This select group will be performing at the Winter and Spring Concerts. Rehearsals will take place on Wednesdays after school.

MEISTERSINGERS

Students who love music, singing and performing are invited to audition for the Meistersingers.  We are a select vocal ensemble that performs advanced pieces at the Winter and Spring Concerts as well as select performances and competitions throughout the year.

Do you want to have a blast while performing a show for the entire community? Are you looking for a way to express your creativity in Middle School? If so, then come audition for the WMS Musical and be a part all the fun!

Meeting Dates-Monday to Thursday  2:20 to 2:45--Room 308.

Tuesday is Science and Chess.

Students will be working with their peers to help tutor them in specific areas.  Students will meet from Monday to Thursday, each day having a subject area assigned to it. On Mondays we have Math, Tuesdays are Science, Wednesdays are ELA, Thursdays are Social Studies and LOTE. Students will also help their peers organize their backpacks.

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD

Meeting Dates: Mondays and Wednesdays (sometimes 5 days!) until February. 2:45-5pm.

 Science Olympiad is one of the premiere science competitions in the nation, providing rigorous, standards-based challenges to nearly 7,000 teams in 50 states. Science Olympiad's ever-changing lineup of events in all STEM disciplines exposes students to practicing scientists and career choices. Our team at Westlake will compete against the other schools in lower Westchester and Rockland counties.

SPANISH CLUB

Meeting Dates: Every other Monday from 2:20- 3:15, Room 307

Come join us and learn about the different Spanish speaking cultures! You choose the topics! If you enjoy Spanish food, music, dancing, cooking/baking, arts & crafts, and playing games, this is the club for you. ¡Vámonos! 

STUDENT COUNCIL

Meeting Dates: Every Other Wednesday-2:30 pm. to 3:15 pm.

Students participate as elected grade level officers and homeroom representatives in various activities throughout the year. Activities include: Spirit Week festivities, fundraising for various charities, operating the school store and more.

TALENT SHOW

Westlake's Got Talent Show: Friday, October 6.

Auditions are Tuesday, September 19 and Thursday,  September 21, 2023.

Students are encouraged to showcase their talent in this annual production performed for the school community to enjoy. 

TECH CREW

Tech Crew consists of students who have embraced the electronic world and want to share their knowledge with peers, teachers and community members. Our mission is to help students and faculty achieve proficiency using technology including devices, software and apps. In addition, we offer members of our community one to one assistance with their personal devices so they can connect with their families and feel comfortable using technology.
