Seventh Grade Class Excursion

Seventh Grade Class Excursion

There, they were able to investigate history hands-on, by reading, listening, touching, and even smelling!  The interactive museum explores a complete history of the lower Hudson Valley.  Students also visited two science sites right on the Hudson River - the Center for Urban Resources at Beczak (CURB) and the Science Barge.  At CURB, students explored natural life in and around the Hudson River, identifying plankton and fish, bird spotting, and visiting turtles who live in the Hudson.  On the Science Barge, students got to see first hand how to grow food sustainably in different ways, like hydroponically and aquaponically.  The students also learned a bit about the history of agriculture in our region - including a callback to the Three Sisters of the Iroquois! It was a great opportunity for students to see what they’d been learning all year in practice.
